The Central MS Blues Society, Inc. hosts Blue Monday every Monday night at Hal & Mal's Red Room in downtown Jackson, MS. Blue Monday is a celebration of the blues - musicians are invited to come jam with us. This video shows how CMBS offers local young artists a showcase for their talents.
That's every Monday night, 7:15-8:15 Front Porch acoustic hour, followed by CMBS's Blue Monday Band at 8:30 'til 11PM.
Cash bar. Blues menu. Security, and free parking. Donation: $5 ($3 for CMBS members).

June 16, 2026 The new blues band, The Rusted Strings, was the featured performer at the June 2025 Summer Series, Blues in the Park, at Smith Park, in downtown Jackson, MS. The Rusted Strings members are Brian Walker on guitar and vocals, John Gaines on guitar, Chris Nash on keys, Alfred Taylor on bass and Keith Sims on drums.

CMBS Awarded MS Arts Commission Grant to Support Blue Monday Project
The Central Mississippi Blues Society is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission to fund our Blue Monday event from July 2023 - June 2024. The grants are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Blue Monday on June 14, 2023 was a special night as CMBS President Malcolm Shepherd presented vocalist Jewel Bass-Thomas and Mississippi bluesman Eddie Cotton with The Pat Brown Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding contribution to the art form of Mississippi Blues and their support of the Central MS Blue Society!

Bobby Rush receives CMBS award
Malcolm Shepherd presented blues legend Bobby Rush with the Central Mississippi Blues Society Lifetime Achievement. Bobby renamed the award the "Mississippi Grammy! Play video to see the award at Blue Monday.
